The purpose of the Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS) program from the American Red Cross is to ensure that healthcare providers have the knowledge and skills necessary to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies. The course emphasizes active, hands-on learning and uses scenario activities to help participants learn how to provide CPR, use an AED and relieve an obstructed airway for adult, child and infant patients. This course gives you the flexibility to complete part of your training online through our dynamic Simulation Learning experience, which combines online coursework with in-person skills sessions, so you can earn your BLS certification your way.

Our free online Advanced Life Support classes are available via an innovative Blended Learning program, which combines online coursework with an in-person skills session – so you can take them when and where you like – and on the device that suits you best. Throughout the course, our interactive scenarios will help you understand the science behind ALS and the finer points of providing care, and improve your clinical decision-making skills.
With the free online class complete, and after passing your final written exam, we invite you to attend an in-person skills session (prices vary) – where you’ll meet with a certified Red Cross instructor and demonstrate your ALS skills. After passing both sections of the course, you’ll receive a two-year ALS certificate. Take a skills test (prices vary) at one of LifeTek's training locations.

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) training can help you provide life-saving care to infants and children during times of crisis. Using a science-based curriculum, personalized instruction and a scenario-based approach, our PALS course will help you learn to assess patients, provide advanced interventions, and improve critical-thinking skills so you can provide better care more confidently. Throughout the course, our interactive scenarios will help you understand the often-nuanced facets of pediatric care and will help improve your clinical decision-making skills. After completing the online portion of course, and passing the final written exam, you’ll attend an in-person skills session where you’ll demonstrate your PALS skills to a certified Red Cross American Red Cross PALS certifications are valid for two years from the completion date.
