American Heart Association Programs

LifeTek Carlson is proud to offer American Heart Association’s (AHA) cutting-edge training programs. Considered as the “gold standard” in healthcare training, all AHA courses are built on evidence-based content and the use of well-tested methodologies that can dramatically improve both the learning and retention of lifesaving skills.

Basic Life Support (BLS) – This course is for healthcare professionals who need to know how to perform basic lifesaving skills such as CPR in a wide variety of in-hospital and out-of-hospital settings. Course Length: Approximately 3-4 hours

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – This course builds on the foundation of lifesaving BLS skills, emphasizing the importance of continuous, high-quality CPR. This advanced classroom course highlights the importance of team dynamics and communication, systems of care and immediate post-cardiac-arrest care. The ACLS course also covers airway management and related pharmacology. Course Length: Approximately
6 hours for a renewal, 12 hours for an initial.

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – PALS is for the healthcare providers who respond to emergencies in infants and children. These include personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care and critical care units, such as physicians, nurses, paramedics and others who need a PALS course completion card for job or other requirements. Course Length: Approximately 8 hours for a renewal, 12 hours for an initial

Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS) – In this classroom-based, Instructor-led course, students learn how to use a systematic approach to quickly assess, recognize the cause, and stabilize a pediatric patient in an emergency situation. Course Length: Approximately 8 hours

Heartsaver – For the non-healthcare professional, the AHA offers a variety of programs they refer to as “Heartsaver”. They include First Aid, Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED or a combination of the two. AHA’s Heartsaver courses are for those with little or no medical training who need a course completion card for
job, regulatory or another requirement. Course Length: Approximately 3-5 hours
