BLS Classroom Course
This classroom-based, Instructor-led Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers Course teaches Seattle’s and Puget Sound’s healthcare professionals the critical skills of high-quality CPR, to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner.
This course is for healthcare professionals who need to know how to perform CPR, as well as other lifesaving skills, in a wide variety of in-hospital and out-of-hospital settings. It uses the American Heart Association’s proven Practice-While-Watching technique, which allows Instructors to observe students, provide feedback and guide students’ acquisition of skills.
The course covers:
- Critical concepts of high-quality CPR
- The American Heart Association Chain of Survival
- 1-Rescuer CPR and AED for adult, child and infant
- 2-Rescuer CPR and AED for adult, child and infant
- Differences between adult, child and infant rescue techniques
- Bag-mask techniques for adult, child and infant
- Rescue breathing for adult, child and infant
- Relief of choking for adult, child and infant
- CPR with an advanced airway
- Upon successful completion of written test and hands on skills, students receive a BLS Provider card, valid for two years

BLS Online and Skills
The BLS for Healthcare Providers Online Course provides a flexible alternative to classroom-based training. The Online Course is web-based and accessible 24 hours a day. Upon successful completion of the online course, students receive a certificate that allows them entrance to a LifeTek in-person skills check. For full course completion, the online course must be paired with an in-person hands-on skills with an AHA BLS Instructor. Upon successful completion of this course, students will receive the same 2-year course card as those who take the conventional classroom course.
